Conditions for granting entry visas for students of religion:
1) Students of Religion studying in religious universities and institutes that are recognized in Lebanon (including those that are registered in non-religious universities or specialty fields ), and from different sects, are granted a previous one month valid visa in order to obtain a residence permit, according to the following conditions:
a) Obtaining a preapproval issued by the General Directorate of General Security provided that the university or the institute applies directly to the General Directorate of General Security, and not through Lebanese delegations abroad.
b) The student of religion should be at least 18 years old.
c) The student of religion should present a registration statement in one of the religious universities or institutes that are recognized in Lebanon specifying the specialty field, the academic year that he intends to attend, and the total number of academic years necessary for his studies.
d) The student of religion should enter Lebanon at the beginning of the academic year (all visas requests must be applied during the month of September of every year, and every application applied after that period will be rejected).
e) The student of religion must be entering Lebanon directly from his homeland, he will be forbidden from entering in case of violation.
2) The religious universities and institutes are to provide the General Directorate of General Security with lists of the majors and the number of academic years for each one.
3) The assigned religious universities and institutes will sign an engagement that the student of religion will leave at the end of his studies, or when he commits any breach to the residence regulations, or any other crime.
4) Temporarily and with regards to some particular security situations, and considering the situations of the countries that send workers, the student must not belong to one of the nationalities of the following countries:
(Pakistan – Afghanistan – Albania – Bosnia – India - Sri Lanka – Philippines - Sudan – Egypt - Chi Chan - Bangladesh - Algeria – Somalia - Iraq ).
The Entry of clergymen, volunteers and preachers in favor of charitable and religious organizations and foundations of all kinds:
1) The terms and conditions of granting a visa to all clergymen, volunteers and preachers working in favor of charitable and religious organizations and foundations of all kinds, apply to the regulations specific to the nationality of each one of them.
2) The granted visas are considered touristic visas, which are not convertible into residence permits, and do not entitle their holders to stay or live in Lebanon and they must leave upon the expiry of the visa's validity.
3) The clergymen, volunteers and preachers willing to live in Lebanon have to obtain a preapproval from the General Directorate of General Security based on a request directly applied by the inviting party in Lebanon.
4) The party inviting a clergyman, a volunteer or a preacher should fulfill the conditions mentioned in the above articles: a-b-e, as for obtaining a preapproval in order to enter Lebanon, or as for requesting a residence permit.
5) The inviting party is to present an engagement to the General Directorate of General Security in which it specifies the nature of religious activities that the clergyman, volunteer or the preacher will exercise in Lebanon, the location and the period of the activity. In addition to that, the inviting party is to sign an engagement that they will leave when the validity of the residence permit expires.
The fees:
1) The students of religion are subject to the same entry fees like all students.
2) The clergymen, volunteers and preachers are subject to normal entry fees (without work/job).
Notes:
- What is meant by the inviting party is the heads of Lebanese sects, the legally licensed charitable and religious organizations and foundations.
- These regulations also apply on the female students of religion, nuns, female preachers and volunteers.
