Passports > Replacing Passports  
A)  Cases of Passport replacement:  

1)   Ordinary cases 

The passport replacement is approved without any investigation in the following cases:

·       A passport stamped by an embassy seal rejecting a visa request.

·       A passport stamped by the seal of Arabic or Foreign authorities indicating a violation of their residence laws.

·       A passport stamped with the indication of a modification of the employer or the guarantor outside Lebanon.

·       A passport stamped with the seal of any immigration department in a foreign country.

·       The alterations in the features of the personal photograph.

·       A request for changing some letters provided that a document is presented.

·       A request for changing the career provided that a document is presented.

·       A request for a passport of the new type.

·       Changes concerning the personal status (marriage, becoming a widower, divorce, …)

·       The passports pages are filled, or they are about to be filled.

 

2)   Exceptional cases

It is approved to replace the passport upon an investigation and after approval of the General Director of General Security in the following cases:

·       A Passport lacking some pages.

·       A Passport stamped by a counterfeit seal.

·       A passport stamped with Israeli seal.

·       Manipulation of the stamps attached on the passports.

·       A Passport with scratches, modifications, rectifications, distortions or illegal extensions.

·       A Passport subjected to damages or wear out.

·       A Passport that is not stamped by the last entry stamp to Lebanon.

·       Upon the request of the concerned individual.

 

Note: The minutes of the interrogation performed at the regional General Security office is attached to the request. 

 

B)  In case of replacement of a passport of the old type with one of the new type, the following documents are required:

 

The old passport to be replaced with the documents previously mentioned to obtain a passport for adults, obtain a passport for a minor below seven years old, and obtain a passport for a minor who has completed seven years old but has not exceeded eighteen years of age.

 

C)  To replace a new passport (2003 type) in both the ordinary and exceptional cases, the following documents must be presented:

·  The old passport to be replaced.

·  The passport replacement application form specifying the reason of replacement.

·  A new Lebanese identification Card with a photograph as well as a photocopy of it on a paper size A4, or an extract of Civil  Registration with a photograph not older than three months and a photocopy of it on a paper size A4, only  in the case of alteration in the family status.

·  One recent, colored photograph, showing all the face, on a white background, not a copy of a previous photo, which dimensions should be 4.3 x 3.5cm certified by the JP's seal and signature and bearing the name of the person, his registry number and address.

D)  Fees:

60000 L.L. for one year - 300000 L.L for 5 years.

E)  Abroad:

Replacing an old passport or a new passport:

The old passport and the new Passport (2003 type) is replaced by the Lebanese delegations abroad with a new passport, according to the new instructions.

* JP: Justice of the peace or commissioner of declarations , it is the judicial officer elected in each district authorized to witness and sign statutory declarations and provide various application forms for official procedures.

 
Expulsion or Refoulement to Lebanon and deportation from Lebanon
