The procedures that must be followed in Lebanon

Ø To present directly a formal convocation/petition at the Public Prosecution Court of Appeal, who hands it over to the Internal Security post station or to the General Security office.

Ø To announce about the loss of the passport in one of the local newspaper for three consecutive days.

Ø To submit to the General Security office after the date of the last announcement for the request of a new passport as a substitute for the lost one, bringing along with him the newspaper announcements, and a photocopy of the interrogations process.

Ø The request is referred to resolution and the concerned individual is informed about the decision after returning it to the post where it was presented.

In the case of approval to grant the concerned individual a new passport as a substitute for the lost one, the concerned person should present an application form to obtain a new passport:

Ø The concerned person present an application according to the previous clauses:

Ø Obtaining a passport for adults.

Ø Obtaining a passport for minors below seven years old.

Ø Obtaining a passport for minors who has completed his seven years of age but has not exceeded his eighteen years of age.

Ø The concerned individual is granted a passport of the 2003 model year instead of the lost passport (whether old or new).

Required Documents:

Ø An application form of the Lebanese passport from that can be obtained from the Quarter Mayor of registry or residence.

Ø A new Lebanese identification Card with a photograph as well as a photocopy of it on a paper size A4, or an extract of Civil  Registration with a photograph not older than three months and a photocopy of it on a paper size A4.

Ø One recent, colored photograph, showing the face completely on a white background size 3.5 x 4.3 cm, not a copy of a previous photo, and certified by the Mayor’s seal and signature after writing the name of the concerned person, his registry number and his place/address.

The legal fee

The fiscal fee legally confined  

(60000 Lebanese L.  for one year - 300000 Lebanese L.  for five years).

The procedures that must be followed abroad

Losing an old or a new passport - Refer to the Lebanese delegation in order to do the necessary requirements according to the circulated instructions for such purposes.

Some citizens pretend loosing their passports and then they try to use them later.

The General Directorate of the Security is concerned to announce that the individuals who use passports they have already pretended that they have lost them, they expose themselves to arrestment and prosecution whether in Lebanon or abroad being that the passport lost circulation is generalized to all frontier departments and to International Interpol.

The fees, charges on hireling services are receipted on every application presented at the public relations department or incoming to it trough the security chamber according to the following:

    - Normal, regular 70.000 L.L on every passport.

            - Instantaneous, Immediate, Direct 105.000 L.L on every passport executed via the

             Security Chamber.
