Definition: A night club is a nocturnal establishment that includes shows, dancing, and drinking alcohol. Nightclubs that are in the first or second category when it comes to the ministry of tourism, are considered as first class, while the ones in the third or fourth category are considered as second class.
The artist in a night club: this category includes women that are 18 years old or more (Lebanese, Arab, or Foreigner) working in a night club.
The owner, or investor (Citizen or enterprise): his investment has to be shown in the extract of commercial register, following current norms and regulations.
The director: is appointed by the owner, or investor to accomplish the formalities at the general security.
The assistant director: is appointed in the same manner as the director, he represents him when the latter is absent.
Locations of residence when it comes to the artists: these include hotels, were artists reside in rooms that are separate compared to other rooms. A previous authorization of the general security is needed.
Investment in a spa– required documents:
- A filled out application
- An extract of civil status or a certified copy of the identity card of the investor
- An extract of the owner’s criminal record that’s one month old at the most
- A certified copy of the investment permit delivered by the prefect, or the ministry of labor
- A certified copy of the extract of commercial register, and financial register
- A certified copy of the registration certificate of the enterprise
- A certified copy of the financial statement
- A certified copy of the purchase contract, the rental contract, or the investment contract
- A certified copy of the title deed
- A revenue stamp
- A certified copy of the alcohol permit
Constitution and opening of a night club: has to respect many requirements, like getting a previous authorization delivered by the general security – artists division
Requested documents to designate a director:
- A filled out application
- A certified copy of the owner’s identity card, or an extract of civil status emitted since 3 months at the most, or a valid passport
- An attestation of employment
- A proxy signed before a notary
- An extract of the owner’s criminal record
- An accommodation certificate
- A certified copy of the extract of commercial register or that of the financial register
- A revenue stamp
Documents required, to terminate a director/ assistant director contract:
- A filled out application
- A certified copy of the owner’s identity card, or an extract of civil status emitted since 3 months at most, or a valid passport
- An agreement of termination signed before the notary
The documents requested to recruit a foreign artist:
- A filled out applications (entry visa)
- A guarantee commitment of 2 000 000 L.B.P (bank guarantee)
- A work contract dated and signed by the owner, and the artist
- A certified colored copy of the owner’s passport
- An engagement to send the artist back to her country in 72 hours if she does not match the requested criteria.
The arrival of the artist in Lebanon: She will be greeted by the investor or a representative of the latter: director or assistant director. If the individual in charge of this task is late, or doesn’t show up, the airport has to send a deposition to the general security – artist division informing them of this incident. Regarding the barmaid the decision will be taken by the general director of the general security.
Medical exams: These exams are mandatory from the very first day. Therefore, she has to come to the general security the second day to deliver her results, but also to endure some supplementary medical examinations.
If the results of the pregnancy are positive, the owner/director is informed to begin her departure procedures (within a window of 72 hours, under the care of the owner). She will be able to return eventually.

NB: When the artists start working in Lebanon, competent doctors examine them regularly, they give them days off, when they have to, and hold their records containing logs of each visit, and exam results. The doctor has to inform the general security – artist division, in case of a sick leave.
Working contract: the nightclub artist, has to show up at the division artist – general security, accompanied by the representative of the night club (director, or assistant director). They sign a contract of 3 months, with conditions that are conforming to the old one. The artist has to have in hand the old contract signed in her country of origin. The contract will be done in 3 copies, and 3 stamps of 1 000 L.B.P are required.
The obligations pertaining to the artist during her stay:
1- Respecting the Lebanese current laws and regulations including those pertaining to her situation (for instance not marrying a Lebanese citizen, or working without a work visa …)
2- Respecting the social and cultural norms in effect (no drugs, nor prostitution)
3- She mustn’t have another job
4- She mustn’t be absent without a medical report
5- She must have the general security number
6- She will eventually be permitted a day off per week, if the owner agrees to this
7- They must wear appropriate outfits
8- The rights and obligations pertaining to the artist must be clearly defined
9- It is formally prohibited to lie in her depositions
10- The artist are accompanied outside the hotel by the representatives of the night club
11- The artist can go out between 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm, her exit is registered by the receptionist, as well as the name of the person accompanying her and his telephone number.
12- She should work in the night club between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am in the morning, then till 1:00 am she has to stay is her room, unless she has a previous authorization by the general security.
Temporary residence of 2 months:
The general security- artist division grants a one month renewable visa (until 6months), to the artists, if the medical exams are negative. The requested documents are as mentioned:
- A filled application with the ID photo of the artist
- The contract
- 2 certified copies of the ID card held by the artist.
These documents are mandatory for the first time they apply for a visa, as for the renewal:
- A filled application with an ID photo of the artist
- The new contract in 3 copies
- 3 fiscal stamps of 1 000 L.B.P
- A financial register
- The medical exams
Transfer of the Barmaid:
The artist can eventually be transferred to another establishment, after one month of her arrival , and for only one time, unless their night club is bankrupt, or at the end of her contract.
The departure of the artist:
The owner, director or assistant director has to go to the general security – artists division, to get the required authorization, with the artist.
The following documents are required:
- The termination of her contract
- A financial register or an engagement to deliver the latter in 10 days at the most.
- An airplane ticket
Fees:
250 000 L.B.P are mandatory when it comes to the monthly granted visa and 50 000 L.B.P upon every entry.
